STRANWITH NIMBUS

PEDIGREE

NIMBUS

Kay Barret writes

I bred Nimbus in my first litter by Ch Dufault Palladium x Ch Willeycroft Tacha.  It was a litter of five and his sister Novra won a CC and a RCC.

As a puppy he went to live with Tuck and Billie Tucker who bred Tacha. When Billie was very ill he came back to live with me at around five years old.

Nimbus was shown only once or twice as he had a toe removed after breaking it as a youngster and so had a flat front foot, (though his other three feet were excellent!). He was a big dog with a deep and long body, good angulation and a lovely head.  He also had a big white tip on his tail.

Not being shown he wasn’t used very often at stud but sired four champions – Ch Canerikie Kate and Ch Canerikie Gandalf the Grey (ex Demerlay Bronte of Upend); Ch Melchior Huntly (ex the American import Ch Highstones Zabelle of Melchior); Ch Kilbourne Jade of Stranwith (ex Lealla Alice).

Huntly and Jade in turn produced champions – Ch Brangalad Myrlyn of Berrylands (Huntly) and Ch Stranwith Jago (Jade).

He also sired CC and RCC winners Stranwith Galina and Stranwith Guy (ex Rotherwood Genista of Stranwith) and they, along with brother S Garrick of Gentom, also bred on; Galina with descendents in Canada, USA and New Zealand.

Nimbus is in the pedigrees of many of the kennels of that time –  Rotherwood, Ardkinglas, Dufault, Melchior, Flaunden, Gentom, Kilbourne and Brangalad, among others. Kay Barret

We are 9 generations away from Nimbus now but he produced 7 litters 44 offspring. Stranwith Nimbus was a popular stud dog between 1983 to 1988 . Nimbus has 3387 descendants to date and is found in nearly all known kennes. There are very few hounds around that do not have Nimbus in their pedigree. GP
