He did sire one other litter with Ardkinglas Wagtail but all 10 puppies died within a fortnight so have had no influence on the breed, a shame. You are right in describing him as having good hunting skills but he also inherited from his mother a frightening disregard for his own safety once he had sighted a quarry. He would often disappear for short periods and return with his contribution which he would always take to Roy. We eventually had 3 of his offspring Lustre who we bought as a puppy then Legend and Legacy who we took when Les Jones died. All 3 had his affectionate temperament but none of his hunting skills. Unusually for a Deerhound he would like to help. He would put his mouth around the handle of the wheely7 bin as I pushed it down the drive and really seem3ed to like carrying letters and newspapers from the mail box to our house. I can say without doubt he was the nosiest dog we have ever owned. He was embarrassing if taken to friends houses or the pub He would look around the backs of sofas and cabinets under tables, behind curtains and sniff along mantlepieces shelves and window sills. At home he did not like anything out of place. If you put something down on a coffee table temporally and he noticed he would pout it on the floor and move it about until it was tight up against another piece of furniture or a wall therefore 'hidden'. Writing this has brought back that a character Arrow was. He was always very protective towards me but not so much to Roy and tended to follow me around. I rarely had to look for him he was always nearby. I don't know if this information is useful but I liked remembering him and writing about him. . Diane

We are 5 generations away from Arrow in 2009 - My memories of this dog is that he had a lovely head, he was balanced with no exagerations. He was a good size and looked like he could do the job he was bred for. I saw him run at the coursing meetings and he was a formidable hunting hound. I used him on Ch Kilbourne Velvet and we kept Fife as the only male born. Glenis Peach
